      Average global warming and smog-forming emissions and environmental performance scores for the eight best-selling automakers show that Hyundai-Kia has the best overall performance for its average vehicle while the Detroit Three perform worse than the industry average. Emissions include those from producing, refining, and distributing fuel used by the fleet in addition to those emitted from the tailpipe. Figures are based on vehicle sales from October 2002 to September 2018.
