National Institute of Statistics, Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela

Until 1871, the statistical function in Venezuela was fulfilled by very diverse organizations, each of which had the obligation to submit periodic reports on the progress of their affairs. Not having an organization specialized in the matter, nor an ordering on the matter, the statistical activity was the result of the particular tasks of those organisms. The church, the ministries, the customs and alcabalas, the municipal organisms and even the travelers, played a fundamental role in the statistical collection on the most diverse topics of the social life of Venezuela.
