The Electricity Market Operator SA (LAGIE SA) was established on the basis of the Law 4001/2011 for the Operation of Electricity and Natural Gas Purchases for Research, Production and Hydrocarbon Transfer Networks and Other Regulations. Market Operator shall primarily facilitate the completion of the single internal market in electricity and to this end shall take all necessary action, within the scope of the powers assigned to it by Law 4001/2011, in order to ensure the implementation of the provisions of Regulation 714/2009, of Directive 72/2009 and of all relevant guidelines and decisions issued by the competent bodies of the European Union.
