National Office of Statistics of the Republic of Cuba

The National Office of Statistics and Information (ONEI) was created by article 31 of Decree Law No. 281 of February 2, 2011, as a result of the organization of the Government Information System, constituting one of its main components and contributing to meet the information needs related to the objectives and plans of the Government at all levels of management, in the areas; economic, social, demographic, and environmental. The National Office of Statistics and Information is the body of the Council of Ministers responsible for methodologically directing the management of information relevant to the Government and the application of the state policy on statistics; respond, in particular, for the management of information and documents of national interest to the Central Government, including the official statistics of the country; and direct the development, implementation and deployment of computer applications of the Government Information System and manage its use in the Government's own data network.
